The KG in KG Protect a Wall stands for
Kent Gregoire the inventor of the product. 12 years ago
when he was repairing another broken window in his garage
from an errant puck, he decided to put an old tarp to use
that he had laying around his main business, Bert’s
Truck Equipment.
He thought if the tarp was strong enough to handle being
on a semi-truck then it should have no problem standing
up to the abuse of kids shooting pucks at it. After hanging
one in his garage and seeing that it would indeed work he
added the sewn on net to the tarp to eliminate the need
for a big ugly net taking up space in his garage.
He started selling the product mainly in his spare time
to other parents who were experiencing the same problem
in their garages. The Protect a Wall quickly became a success
in Moorhead and he decided to try and sell them at the prestigious
Minnesota State High School hockey tournament. The idea
caught on in the twin cities area and ever since then the
Protect a Wall has become a successful side business for
Bert’s Truck Equipment. In 1999 “KG” applied
for and received a patent for his invention. The side business
has expanded from “KG” first selling them out
of his home to now having four different products, a full
time salesman and a reputation in the business that is second
to none.
